Woodley Park —– At the fest $9

Lake Balboa, CA

Have you been to Woodley Park in Lake Balboa yet? It’s a wonderful oasis in the San Fernando Valley, right off the 405 S Burbank Blvd exit. Probably one of the best kept parks with lush greenery and animals. A quick get-away from the hum of the city.

This upcoming Sunday, WorldFest festival will be having an outdoor event– a huge one at that. On their website, http://www.worldfestevents.com/, WorldFest is promising: entertainment, education, and enlightenment. If you are looking for a new experience, definitely check this festival out. It is nothing short of educational; they house many vendors and booths that will expand your awareness of how to live green.

Ironically, Angelenos who live and spend the majority of their time in LA, call the SFV “Africa” because when you look at the vast lush from the top of the 405 freeway it looks like a huge continent. The irony is that  the Valley is the exact opposite; it’s actually very much like a concrete jungle, with cities like Sun Valley boasting a gravel plantation, or Tuxeford the infamous industrial street that gets flooded every year because of the grooves that countless semi trucks cause in the road.

Each corner of the San Fernando Valley is different from the city next to it. Reseda has Korean and Vietnamese signs on one block, and Persian and Indian signs on the next. The trees that poke their heads above our homes and businesses are not often visible by Valley city dwellers.

The green movement runs parallel to this, it is above our heads and so ubiquitous that we hardly see it. WorldFest is framing the green movement for us on Sunday at a local place. It invites people, locals and out of towners, to take a serious look at what alternative lifestyles have to offer. Where we lack imagination or knowledge, others have excelled and are wanting to share.

The official schedule has just been released and there is something for everyone.
